The Chaos Theory.

Why does a term " chaos theory come in to a recruitment blog. Wikipedia says chaos theory is a field of study in mathematics, physics, economics and philosophy studying the behavior of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. Good that they have mentioned it for philisophy also. When we use the term philosophy here it means there is some human behaviour and a human participation is also included in it.

Dasaavataram, a most hyped movie in tamil film industry claimed that its core theme was about this chaos theory. Chaos theory is other wise called " the butterfly effect"

So now what is this Butterfly effect means. Again using the help of wiki - here we go

"A small differences in the initial condition of a dynamical system may produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system".

A chaos theory also may happen in a company. I guess now im making some sense to the subject.

Previously i had discussed about various reason an employee stay and the company need to concentrate to make an employee love an organisation. We called it as internal branding or investing on your employees.

Lets take a company having a small size of 50 employees. Over a period of time there is some bonding created between all these employees dominating their emotional instinct. The attachment between the indiduals become dominating. Take me wrong or whatever.. This majorly happens in the female gender. So hence in the volume of 50 numbers, there would be a group of 15 friends who are attached. In that 15 numbers you may have one or two initiators or ideal leaders for the entire group. One morning the leader decides to quit the job for some reason. The remaining 14 starts to have a fear, not just a single tupe of fear. One they fear of an emotional attachment leaving them and second if the initiator it self is leaving there is something wrong in thier existence.

Belive me or not, in the remaining 14 atleast 10 would update thier profile in their portals.* ( Still yahoo and google has the best employee satisfaction practice where there is less chance of fear occuring for an employee) . so as that 10 apply and puts their paper down it will create a first chaos in thier company. The remaining 35 would see this group for the first time as what is happening. Hence they also conclude that there is some problem internally and lets be cautious. Here goes another 10, and the chain goes on.

Here is now the real challenge starts for the company. It is not easy for them to recruit another big team when there is no size availbale internally. Anyone fears to join such company.

Is it possible to avoid such Chaos. YES! We all did see a movie called chak de india. The coach tries to break the group to make them close with the other members of  team. This is a stratergy used in most colleges to avoid students forming a group by putting them in cross sections.

Cross Team gaming method can be implemented.

A the last and foremost thing a HR need to know is to predict this chaos. If he does not have that instinct then he does not deserve to be a HR person. There are HR managers who does not move from their cabin. Though the HR department is the only non revenue generating department, if it is not able to predict a Butterflys wing then it would end up the most cost generating department.
